Creative Writing 5 & Comprehension 5
Wednesday 26th July 2022 10AM - 3PM
- 150 British pounds£150
In the morning we will teach the fifth and final Creative Writing workshop which will: -Tackle common mistakes for each type of writing. -Provide easy ways to avoid losing marks and avoid using creative techniques incorrectly. -Offer useful, constructive feedback on their writing and give the tools and advice to perfect their writing. -Consider an examiner's perspective, helping the students to review their own work effectively. In the afternoon we will teach the final Comprehension Classics workshop focusing on inference and deduction (the key skill to comprehension success) and applying these skills to character analysis. This will help the students to infer important information about context and character relationships within a piece. Additionally, we will take a look at the use of language in classic literature, and how to break down archaic language and phrasing into terms we can understand more easily. This will help students to feel confident with this type of literature and tackle the tougher passages they will face. There will also be a tough comprehension that we will work through as a group, encouraging discussion of the text. The students will get to keep their course booklet, which helps you as parents review their work with us and help them more effectively at home. A reminder will be emailed to you nearer the time of the event.
