Service Description

Creative Writing workshop 2 will cover Descriptive Writing: This workshop delves into descriptive writing - the most frequently occurring style tested in the 11+ (appearing every year so far). It will focus on vocabulary, the most useful creative techniques & literary devices, as well as how to write imaginative and interesting pieces of writing from mundane topics. One quarter of the English 11+ exam is Creative Writing, which involves competence and flair as well as a detailed understanding of specialist writing techniques. This is not taught comprehensively in schools, yet is essential to both 11+ success and overall academic achievement. This workshop will teach your child vital skills to identify the do's and don't of creative writing, tackle each style in a sophisticated manner and provide essential guidance on how best to approach this aspect of the 11+ in order to achieve the very top marks! The second half of this day will address Comprehension. It will cover: Question types in the 11+ comprehension with examples, different types of texts featured in the comprehension passage, double meanings of words to aid 'reading between the lines' & vocabulary, fiction and non-fiction worked examples.
