Service Description

Workshop 1 will cover Creative Writing: This serves as an invaluable foundation and basis of approaching all writing styles, encouraging imaginative development of their writing as well as providing all the necessary practical information such as mark distribution, common question types and timing. We also demonstrate our all-important methods to avoid common mistakes. One quarter of the English 11+ exam is Creative Writing, which involves competence and flair as well as a detailed understanding of specialist writing techniques. This is not taught comprehensively in schools, yet is essential to both 11+ success and overall academic achievement. This workshop will teach your child vital skills to identify the do's and don't of creative writing, tackle each style in a sophisticated manner and provide essential guidance on how best to approach this aspect of the 11+ in order to achieve the very top marks! The second half of this day will address Comprehension. It will help your child with the core skills required to master comprehension, and each workshop provides a thorough worked example in class and one to try at home. Comprehension Classics workshop 1 will address: the format, composition and timing of the comprehension.
